As I keep reading, visiting, and thinking about museum displays I want to share with you some photo essays from my countless visits to museums. I am mostly concerned with the display of nature. This is because we often fail to see that nature is cultivated in the same way that culture is naturalised.

With my camera as my companion, I want to bring the animals out of their glass cases. I do this to shed light on a very simple point: Museums are not neutral spaces. Museums shape narratives, shape people, shape yours and my own understanding and relation to nature.  My hope is to make visible what is often invisible and make you look at displayed animals differently the next time you visit a natural history museum.
